Aviation Capital Group (ACG) has ordered another 35 Boeing MAX aircraft, a commitment split between 737-8s (16) and 737-10s (19).
The California-based lessor’s total orders for MAX aircraft now stands at 82, joining existing commitments for six -10s, and 41 -8s, according to the Aviation Week Network Fleet Discovery database. ACG also has orders for 20 Airbus A220s, eight A320neos and 21 A321neos, Fleet Discovery shows.
Boeing said the repeat order demonstrates market demand for its MAX family. ACG last added to its MAX orderbook in September 2023.
“This firm order for additional 737 MAX aircraft enhances the strategic value of ACG’s orderbook, supports a key pillar of our growth strategy, and reinforces our commitment to invest in modern and fuel-efficient aircraft technology,” ACG CEO Thomas Baker said.
The 737-8 variant can carry up to 210 passengers with a range of 3,500 nm (6,480 km), while the yet-to-be-certified 737-10 seats up to 230 passengers with a range of 3,100 nm (5,740 km). Delivery targets for the latest order were not disclosed, and ACG did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
In June, Boeing delivered 34 737 MAXs, its highest monthly number for the family so far in 2024. The manufacturer is in the midst of making changes to its 737 production lines, following an FAA audit and employee feedback, as the company works to hit quality metrics targets and increase commercial production rates.
The first leasing company to announce a commitment for 737 MAX aircraft in November 2011, ACG was also one of the launch customers for the -10 in 2017. As of March 31, the lessor owns over 480 owned, managed and committed aircraft, leased to roughly 90 airlines in approximately 45 countries.
