Last year's contest was a huge success. Eight groups battled it out to see who would open up Praise in the Park 2008 for Casting Crowns. Proverbs 14:23 says "your hard work will be rewarded" and the hard work by Godspeed3 and Centertree was evident to everyone in attendance. Not only did these guys put forth the effort to perform by winning the contest, but you could tell from their talent and preparation they work hard in their music and praises. Now on to 2009! This year's line-up is one of the best shows of the year. MercyMe, DecembeRadio, and Addison Road are all hot right now on the radio and the road. Here is your chance to join the allstar line-up and play on stage with MercyMe (7 time Dove Award Winner), the 2009 Dove Award winning DecembeRadio (Rock Album of the Year), and 2009 Dove Nominee New Artist of the Year Addison Road.
Like last year, this year's contest will reward the two hardest working Christian groups with an opportunity of a lifetime. The two groups that pre-sell the most tickets by September 27th will each get a 20 minute set to open Praise in the Park 2009.
But wait there's more (just like on TV), a local Christian owned studio has donated studio time to the two winners. The winning group will receive 20 hours and the runner-up will get 10 hours. Some restrictions apply but what a great opportunity of an up-and-coming band.
The rules of the contest are as follows:
- In order to enter the contest, you must be approved by Praise in the Park Inc. by submitting a sample of your music to us by email or link to your myspace music site or equivalent.
- Once approved your group's name will appear on the approved list at this website. If your name does not appear on the contest page then you are not officially entered into the contest.
- As an approved contest entrant you can pre-sell Praise in the Park 2009 tickets for $10 each. To help streamline this year's event, you can direct your ticket purchasers to this website to buy tickets directly from us and we'll mail them out. The ticket purchasers must indicate which group they are purchasing tickets for (in the dropdown list) at the time of purchase. No back-voting!
- Ticket sales can only be submitted on the 1st and 15th of the month. No weekly or daily sales returns. If you prefer to keep all your sales until the last day that is fine. Sorry no advance tickets. After sales are submitted then tickets will be returned to you ASAP.
- On September 27th, we'll announce the two contest winners and contact you to begin planning for your performance as an opening act for MercyMe.
- MercyMe typically draws over 8000 people at a $25 ticket price in our area. Only the Lord knows how many they'll draw at $10 a ticket and as winner you'll have the opportunity to perform in front of these same people AND sell your CDs AND merchandise. This may be the big break your group needs.
Pre-selling tickets for this line-up for only $10 will not be difficult. This is an easy contest to win for those willing to put a little effort into it. There are no restrictions on how you advertise to pre-sell tickets: contact youth groups, put up posters in your church, sell tickets from your myspace, or sell tickets at one of your performances. The only restriction is that you do not sell tickets for more than $10 (i.e., no profit making).
